Yesterday it was revealed that Hone’s racial outburst has sparked a record 753 complaints to the Race Relations Commissioner who says
“People have spoken of the divisiveness of such comments, they have spoken of their anger and outrage at both the views contained in the comment and what they hear as its racist and sexist content.”
Paul Thomas gives a thoughtful summation of Hone’s (and Rodney’s ) actions in his opinion piece in today’s Herald including the following well crafted lines
The fall-out took some curious turns. Some questioned whether Harawira’s language was racist, to which the obvious reaction is: well, if it isn’t, what is?
Then there was John Key’s feeble response: clearly MMP means never having to draw a line in the sand…
With the heat around the ETS deal building like a well layed hangi, it seems Hone has gone off and got himself a white man’s lawyer Harawira 
hires QC for fight to stay in party - taking a leaf out of Winston’s book perhaps?
